DAY 1 - Arrive Chennai

Capital of the south-eastern state of Tamil Nadu. Chennai is one of the four major metropolitan cities in India. Today, it is hard to believe that a place that was till 1639 just a small fishing village would become such an enormous and beautiful city On Arrival at Chennai airport, meet and assist and transfer to your Hotel. Later in the afternoon, proceed for half day city tour of Chennai. Visit 13 km long Marina Beach, St. George Fort, built in 1653 currently used as the state government’s secretariat, Santhome Cathedral built around 14th/15th century and the Kapaleshwar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Fort Museum and National Art Gallery. Overnight at Hotel

DAY 2 - Chennai -Kanchipuram - Mahabalipuram ( 60 Kms 1hrs )

Breakfast at the hotel. Later check out and drive to Mahabalipuram Enroute visit Kanchipuram. 80 Kms 2 hrs drive from Chennai. Kanchipuram is dedicated to Lord Siva, Kailasanatha is one of the earliest temples. It was built by the Pallava king, Rayasimha, in the late 7th century, though its front was added later by his son, King Varman III. It is the only temple at Kanchi which isn't cluttered with the more recent additions of the Cholas and Vijayanagar rulers, and so reflects the freshness and simplicity of early Dravidian architecture. Fragments of the 8-th century murals which once graced the alcoves are a visible reminder of how magnificent the temple must have looked when it was first built. The Temple is run by Archaeology department is very interesting quite un usually non hindhus are allowed in to the temple. The Sri Ekambarnathar Temple is dedicated to Siva and is one of the largest temples in Kanchipuram, covering nine hectares. Its 59 m high gopuram and massive outer stone wall were constructed in 1509 by Krishna Devaraja of the Vijayananagar Empire, though construction was originally started by the Pallavas and the temple was later extended by the Cholas. Inside are five separates enclosures and a 1000- pillared hall. The temple's name is said to be a modified form of Eka Amra Nathar -- the Lord of the Mango tree. and in one of the enclosure is a very old mango tree with four branches representing the four Vedas. Kamaskhi Amman Temple- dedicated to the goddess Paravati, this important temple is the site of the annual Car Festival, held on the 9th lunar day in February -March. When not in use, the ornately carved wooden car is kept partially covered in corrugated iron halfway up Gandhi Rd. The Temple has a Golden Gopuram in the centre Kanchipuram is one of the seven Sacred cities of India and was capitial of the kingdom of the Pallava, Cholas and Rajas of Vijayanagar During Pallavas times, it was briefly occupied by the Chalukyans of Badami, and by the Rashtrakutas when the battle fortunes of the Pallavas kings reached a low ebb. Kanchipuram is a temple city and its many gopurams can be seen from a long way away. Of the original 1000 temples, there are still about 125 left spread out across the city. Many of them are the work of the later Cholas and of the Vijayanagar kings. Kanchi is also famous for its hand-woven silk fabrics. This industry originated in Pallava times, when the weavers were employed to produce clothing and fabrics for the kings .Other than the temples, Kanchipuram is a dusty and fairly nondescript town. DAY 3 - Mahabalipuram

After breakfast, visit of Mahabalipuram sightseeing guided tour of Mahabalipuram, Mahabalipuram, named after the Pallava king Narasimhbavaam excavated many cave temples, the most remarkable being the seven monotholic temples, each carved from a single granite Boulder standing on the sea shore followed by stone made sculptures, caves, chariots and temples of the Pallava period. DAY 4 - Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry ( 110 Kms / 3 hrs )

After breakfast, drive to Pondicherry and on arrival check in at the hotel. Pondicherry, recently renamed as Puducherry, is a town tucked away on the Eastern seaboard of India. Among its diverse attractions are a coastline of 32 kms, palm-fringed beaches, backwaters, fishing villages. Evening take a walk through the beach. Overnight at Hotel

DAY 5 - At Pondicherry

Morning depart for half day city tour of Pondicherry. visit the world famous Aurobindo Ashram - abode of the twentieth century saint and philosopher Sri Aurobindo which forms the nucleus of many activities and trade in Pondichery. Later, visit Auroville town - an oasis of peace and enlightenment designed by the French architect, Roger Anger. You would find the town living up to its designer's mission of making people realize the merits of human unity Overnight at Hotel

DAY 6 - Pondicherry – Kumbakonam ( 128 Kms / 3.5 hrs )

Depart from hotel after early breakfast and drive to Kumbakonam. Enroute visits temples of Chidambaram, “Gangaikonda Cholapuram”(famous Shiva temple) with its beautiful high towers full with many small sculptures depicting stories of old epics Check-in your Hotel at Kumbakonam. Lunch at Kumbakonam. Afternoon Lunch visit Darasuram “Darasuram” temple (built in memory of the White elephant - AIRAVATH from the gods family), the temple has its original name as "Airavatheshwar temple". Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 7 - Kumbakonam- Tanjore –Trichy (115 Kms ; 7 hrs )

After breakfast, proceed for half day city tour of Tanjore visiting Brahadeeswara Temple –Dedicated to Lord Siva in the form of Linga & The palace Museum and drive to Trichy . The city of Tiruchirappali, 50 Kms from Tanjore popularly known as Trichy. Trichy is situated on the banks of the Kaveri River. It has a history going back to centuries before the Christian era when it was a Chola citadel. Visit the Srirangam temple. Shrouded in a haze of coconut palms away to the north, Srirangam temple is one of the most interesting temple complexes in India. It is built on an island in the middle of Kaveri River covering a staggering 2 sq miles. This enormous temple has seven concentric walls and 21 towers or ‘gopuram’ surrounded by thick rampart walls covering the sanctum. DAY 8 - Trichy- Madurai (145 Kms ;4 hrs )

After breakfast, proceed for Madurai . . Madurai is over 2500 years old and is the second largest city of Tamil Nadu. Ancient seat of learning, the city is planned in the shape of a lotus. Later in the evening, you are taken to the special religious night ceremony at the Meenakshi Temple.

DAY 9 - At Madurai

After Breakfast, Visit the famous Madurai Meenakshi Temple. There are four entrances to this amazing temple complex set in six hectares. one of the stone pillars in the complex with any hard object and feel incredible on hearing sheet metal sounds. It is known as musical pillars. The total number of pillars in the temple is a staggering one thousand. DAY 10 - Madurai – Kanyakumari (245 KMs ; 5.5 hrs)

DAY 11 - Kanyakumari – Kovalam (90 Kms ; 2 hrs )

DAY 12 - Trivandrum Sightseeing

This temple is a blend of the Kerala and Dravidian styles of architecture. Kuthiramalika Palace Museum :- , also known as Puthen Malika Palace or Mansion of Horses, is a palace situated on the south-east side of Sree Padmanabha Swami Temple. Kuthira Malika Palace is so called because of the shape of head carvings of the horses on the exterior walls. The palace was built by Maharaja Swathi Tirunal Balarama Varma, the King of Travancore, the palace is a fine example of the traditional Travancore style embellished with exquisite woodcarvings. DAY 13 - Kovalam - Alleppey (190 kms ; 4.5 hrs drive)

Morning after breakfast proceed to Alleppey. DAY 15 - At Thekkady

Morning go for Periyar Boating through the sanctuary . DAY 16 - Thekkady to Munnar ( 110 Kms ; 3.5 hrs )

After breakfast check out from the hotel and drive to Munnar – “Nature lovers paradise” drive through the picturesque countryside of Munnar, a popular getaway retreat. DAY 17 - At Munnar

DAY 18 - Munnar – Kolencherry (110 kms ; 3 hrs )

Breakfast at hotel and proceed to Kolencherry , Thomaschettan Farm House . The Farm welcomes you to share the warmth of our home as well as the culture and cuisine of Kerala. DAY 19 - At Cochin
